Invisalign is a discreet, innovative, and highly effective way to straighten your teeth and achieve the smile you’ve always wanted. It uses a series of custom-made clear aligners to gradually move the positions of your teeth based on your digital treatment plan. All you need to do is wear the aligners for a minimum of 22 hours per day, removing them to eat and drink, to clean your teeth, and for some special occasions such as a wedding.
At Holmes Dental Care, we offer a range of Invisalign treatment options. From Invisalign Express to achieve fast results in mild cases, to Invisalign Comprehensive to straighten more complex orthodontic issues, we are passionate about helping you achieve a beautiful straight smile as quickly as possible.
At Holmes Dental Care, we are pleased to offer payment options to suit a range of budgets and preferences. Our finance options, including 0% interest over 12 months and low-cost over longer terms, give you the chance to spread the cost of your treatment into monthly payments, subject to status. At Holmes Dental Care, your Invisalign treatment is carried out by one of our skilled team – Dr Barry Holmes, Dr Jess Weymouth and Dr Romina Carabott. They are highly experienced and passionate about helping you achieve your dream straight smile in the best possible way. With comprehensive consultations and our patient-focused approach, you are in safe hands!
If you are interested in straightening your teeth, we begin with a free assessment to explain your treatment options and make sure Invisalign is right for you. We examine your teeth and gums, explain the treatment process, and give you the chance to ask us any questions you have about Invisalign. If you want to go ahead, we book your appointment in our practice.
Using state-of-the-art digital equipment, we take scans and images of your teeth, which are used to create your bespoke treatment plan. With Invisalign’s ClinCheck technology, we can even show you the series of step-by-step movements your teeth will go through over the course of your treatment. ClinCheck also gives you a preview of your predicted new smile, so you can see your expected results before your treatment even starts.
During your straightening treatment, you wear each of the clear aligners in the series for around two weeks before replacing it with the next one. If you are very keen for fast treatment, you may be able to change your aligners once a week. With each aligner, your teeth move little by little as the gradual forces get to work. We see you every 6-8 weeks for progress appointments, so we can track your treatment and make any adjustments needed for an incredible result. We can even monitor your progress remotely using state-of-the-art scan box technology.
When you have worn all your clear aligners, your treatment is complete and you can show off your newly straight smile! We give you a bespoke retainer to wear following treatment, which prevents your teeth from moving back to their original positions. As with all orthodontic treatment, we recommend you wear your retainer on a part time basis for as long as you want your teeth to stay straight.

No, there are no age limits for Invisalign. We have treated patients between the ages of 18 to 75 for orthodontic problems. People in their 50s, 60s and 70s are starting Invisalign treatment at Holmes Dental Care. It is possible to straighten your teeth whatever your age.
Invisalign uses a series of comfortable clear aligners to exert gradual and gentle forces on your teeth, moving them little by little into new straighter positions.
The duration of Invisalign treatment varies depending on the complexity of each case. On average, treatment time is between 6 and 12 months. We will give you a more exact timeframe for your case after your consultation.
You shouldn’t eat or drink anything except plain water while you are wearing your Invisalign aligners. However, you can take them out to eat and drink whatever you choose, meaning you don’t have to change anything about your diet or lifestyle for Invisalign treatment to be successful.
The exact cost of your Invisalign treatment at our dental practice in Cardiff will be given to you after your initial consultation and assessment. For a guide cost, please visit our Fees page for more information. We also offer payment plans and finance options to help spread the cost.

We recommend that you wear your clear aligners for a minimum of 22 hours per day. The best approach is to fully commit to your Invisalign treatment and understand that if you wish to achieve the straight smile you want in the fastest time, you need to wear your aligners for the recommended time. Simply put, the more you leave them out, the longer your treatment will take. We accept that there will be times when wearing the aligners will not be practical – for example when going out to dinner, or attending a wedding. Don’t worry too much about this, just make sure the aligners are placed back in as soon as is reasonably possible.
