Why do I need to replace multiple missing teeth?

Replacing multiple missing teeth in your smile with strong and aesthetic dental implants not only boosts your appearance and confidence. It also significantly improves your oral health and the way your teeth function. The sooner you seek treatment for missing teeth, the better the outcome. A large gap in your smile increases your risk of gum disease, sensitivity, bite issues, and results in the loss of bone in your jaw.

Dental implants are strong titanium posts, inserted into your jaw to mimic a natural tooth root. Multiple dental implants are used to support a bridge or denture, and even a full arch of aesthetic replacement teeth. Protect your oral health and existing teeth, and enhance your quality of life with multiple implants at Holmes Dental Care.

Treatment options for multiple missing teeth

Implant-supported crown

If you have multiple missing teeth in different parts of your mouth, and the neighbouring teeth are unsuitable for a dental bridge, we may suggest several implant-supported crowns. This involves fitting a single implant per gap, with a custom-made crown attached on top, following a detailed consultation with Dr Barry Holmes. It is a very effective way to replace multiple missing teeth around the mouth.

Implant-retained bridge

If you have several missing teeth next to one another, we may suggest an implant-retained bridge as the best solution. After a consultation with Dr Barry Holmes, two or more implants are fitted to support and anchor a custom-made bridge of multiple replacement teeth. This treatment option can restore your beautiful smile and give you a new lease of life.

All-on-4

If you are missing all or most of your teeth on one or both arches, we can use the All-on-4 implant technique to give you a full smile once more. It involves fitting four to six strategically placed dental implants in your jawbone, providing a solid base for a full arch fixed bridge. All-on-4 can give you a brand new smile in just one visit, with no need for lengthy healing periods and temporary restorations.

Frequently asked questions

What are the consequences of having multiple missing teeth?

The consequences of missing teeth on your dental health can be significant. Teeth can move position in the mouth to compensate for the missing teeth, resulting in a compromised bite, tension headaches and difficulties in cleaning. This can leave you at risk of dental decay, gum disease or oral infections. Bone loss in the jaw can also occur in the area where a tooth was situated. Often in these circumstances many people rule themselves out of dental implant treatment. But this may not be so, and we may be able to help you. Even when lots of bone may have been lost, implants can be placed into other parts of the jaw, cheekbone or in conjunction with bone grafting procedures – it is almost always possible to place an implant as long as your medical condition and circumstances permit.

Will implant surgery hurt?

Our patients are often surprised at how little discomfort they experience during and after implant procedures. The procedures can be carried out using a local anaesthetic to keep you comfortable and sedation is also available. Our experienced team will take good care of you throughout your treatment with us and will listen to any worries or concerns you may have along the way.

How long will full dental implant treatment take?

For routine cases, from the time of implant placement to the time of placing the replacement tooth can be somewhere between 3 to 6 months. In more complex cases involving the replacement of several teeth or bone regeneration, treatment can take longer, with some cases lasting up to 18 months. All-on-4 implants can give you a new smile in just one visit. Dr Holmes can give you a more exact timeline for your case after your assessment and consultation.

What are full mouth dental implants?

Full mouth dental implants are used to replace multiple missing teeth and fill larger gaps. The implants themselves are small titanium posts that are fitted in the jawbone to form a solid foundation. A bridge or denture of multiple replacement teeth are attached to the implants to give a beautiful new smile.

What is the cost of full mouth dental implants?

Our implant treatment costs are listed on the fees page of our website. We appreciate that dental implants can be a significant investment, which is why we offer a range of payment options, including interest-free credit, subject to suitability, as well as other finance options.

Do you offer payment plans for replacing multiple missing teeth?

We offer 0% finance payment plans which can be used to spread the cost of your multiple implant treatment, subject to status. Please talk to us to find out more.
